Eighteen Months Old!

Holy cannoli, Chad is 18 months!

For those of you who have been on the edge of their seats since my last post: Chad does not poop too much.  Other babies only wish they could be as regular as him.  Phew.
Moving on...
Chad celebrated his pre-18-month birthday with he doctor's visit.  His little eardrum is fully healed, and we weren't surprised by any new infections this visit.  He has sprouted up the height charts (32.8 inches, 68th percentile) but tumbled a bit on the weight (24.9 pounds, 37th percentile).  See what happens when you only eat bananas, Chad?  And hallelujah, his head is now a normal size- 51st percentile!  Hooray!  Andy asked if his tongue sucking should be discouraged, and she wasn't thrilled about this new habit because it could eventually cause his teeth to become crooked.  My feeling is that sucking your tongue before bedtime is nowhere near as bad as walking around with a pacifier in your mouth when you're three years old, so really, how much damage could this cause.  Everything else checked out great, and they gave him a swell gift- a thigh full of hepatitis vaccine!  He has terribly saddened by this, and according to Andy was still "glum" when they got to school.  Miss Simone gave him a late breakfast of toast and pears, and he sat sadly at the table eating by himself.  But he was all smiles by the time he came home, even though he had managed to fall and skin his knee.  (We have been getting more than our fair share of ouch reports the past few weeks.)
He got a package from his Grammy yesterday, and took his new clothes on a tour of the house.

Today we celebrated the big 18 months with some pinata cookies.  (If you don't know what pinata cookies are, get thee to Google and look them up.  They are the hottest thing to happen to Cinco de Mayo since the margarita.)  Chad brought some in for his teachers, because I have zero qualms about kissing up to them if it means he gets extra snuggles and the best bird mask.  After a nice dinner of asparagus pizza (during which me made it clear that he will not tolerate being fed asparagus), he celebrated by eating his own pinata cookie.  (No Nerds for him though!)

We spotted the fourth molar poking through tonight!  Hooray, we all survived the molar eruptions!

  1. You are an awesome mother for making him pinata cookies because I don't care how cute my kids are, those look like far too much work.
