Rise and shine! The birthday boy checks out his decorations!

 

 

"Today is all about me!"

 

We started breakfast with a banana appetizer.

 

 

The second course was banana chocolate chip pancakes.

 

Eventually we got him dressed, and let him start opening presents!  He got a ruff-ruff movie for "snowy" days.  (I almost got him Beverly Hill Chihuahua 3, but was afraid Andy would kick me out.)

 

Play-doh (we haven't experimented with this yet.  Maybe this weekend.)

 

A 14-piece cleaning set.  This was right up Chad's alley!

 

He immediately tested out the mop.

 

And the squeegee.

 

And the broom.  And then we had to say, "Stop cleaning and open your presents."

Guitar!  (We have a cute video of him dancing with this, but it's on one of Andy's electronic devices, so I can't share it right now.)

And then since it had been a few hours since we'd eaten bananas... we had Double Banana Cake. (It used 7 bananas.  The recipe is here.  Don't look at the nutrition facts.)

 

 

Is there such a thing as a potassium overdose?

The festivities continued the next day with Chad's celebration at school.  Long gone are the days when parents could bring home made cupcakes to schools for such activities.  :(  Only store-bought goodies are allowed now.  The store's cupcakes looked gross to me, with fluorescent frosting and enough preservatives to fix your stomach lining.  I opted for Salted Caramel Cups instead, which were more toddler-sized, and had a higher stickiness factor.
At first Chad was confused why I was at school at lunch time.  But they herded all the toddlers to the table and once we started singing the birthday song, he realized it was going to be all about him again.  He jumped up from the table and grabbed my hand and made me sit down with him for the rest of the song.  And then all the toddlers got a caramel sugar high!
