The Santa Train!

A few nights ago, Chad and I went to the museum's Santa Train exhibit. These were the hottest tickets in town, but since we're members we got to get in on the ticket pre-sale.

After we walked along a path of Christmas trees decorated by each department of the museum, we went ice skating in our socks on this fake ice rink. I don't know how it worked, but it was slippy like ice, and Chad took some awesome spills. The Frozen soundtrack was playing at that exhibit and Chad told me that he would be Olaf and I could be Sven. For those of you who haven't had the joy of watching Frozen on a weekly basis since August (thanks, Steph and Dave!), Sven is the reindeer.

We made reindeer food, drank hot cocoa, and got Chad's face painted.

Then we got on line for our ride.

The train took us through the woods with lots of lights until we got to the North Pole.

Santa came around and talked to each kid. Chad was concerned about where the reindeer were. (They were sleeping, because they have a big trip to get ready for on Christmas Eve.

Mrs. Claus came around and gave us all Rudolph noses.

Chad told me we need to keep these noses so we can block the smell if someone "poots." I'm not gonna call anyone out, but Andy was told several times that if he "poots", then Chad will have to put on the Rudolph nose until it is safe.

On the way back through the woods we saw Rudolph's nose as he was flying.

Over the weekend we had a tiny bit of snow!

 There was no accumulation, but we let Chad run outside in his jammies for a hot minute to try to catch snowflakes in his mouth.

I've been home with the kiddies all week, and so far we've gone to a pizza party with the scientists, back to the museum for some inside fun, and watched every Christmas show I've been Tivo-ing.

The Santa Train is finished for the season, so the ice skating rink moved inside for a few days. We were the first ones to ever enter the indoor exhibit! We lucked out because members can get into the museum an hour before it actually opens, so we got some skating in before the riff-raff showed up.

He throws left now?? Who knew? He was getting the balls through the hoops, left-handed. Future Soxie, right here, folks.

I'm really getting my money's worth from these matching Christmas outfits.

Tonight we're having 3 of the seven fishes for Christmas Eve: lobster bisque, salmon and feta rolls and goldfish crackers. :)
