Theo:
He's weighing in at 23.3 pounds, and is 29.9 inches tall. That is a pound and an inch less than Chad was at this age, and it puts my little munchkin at just the 10th percentile for height, but his head is over the 97th percentile. There are some cramped gums inside that head, because he still only has 4 teeth. One of the baby development books we have said that boys are slower to talk, but he seems to have a better vocabulary than Natalie. He can say Hi, Bye-bye, Wolf!, What's that? Mama, Dada, Ball, A cat!, Uh-oh, Whoa! and maaaybe Door, but he could just be getting lucky with that one. They teach sign language at school, and although we've never bothered with it at home, we know Theo is learning it because he'll sign "more" anytime he hears Chad say that word. He is cuddly and gives hugs, and the cutest thing ever-in-the-world is when he stumbles over to Natalie and hugs her. He's still scared of swings and thinks slides are boring. He is attached to his little stuffed wolf, and was absolutely fascinated by the lemurs at the museum. (We think because they're grey like his wolf. He liked the other animals too, and would have stayed near the cow all day if Natalie wasn't getting bored and looking to move on.
Where's Theo??
There he is! (And is wolf is there too!)
Natalie:
Nats is still the little runt, but she broke the 20 pound mark this month, and is 29.3 inches tall, putting her at the 13th percentile. Both of the twinkies got their height from my side of the family tree. (Looking at them, I think there's more than a 0.6 inch difference between them, so I don't put too much stock in these measurements. At least one must be off.) Natalie has just recently outgrown her last pair of size 6 month jammies, and the flamingo outfit she's wearing above is a 6-9 month. But her head is in the 72nd percentile. She has at least 8 teeth, but I've seen signs of a few more bottom ones coming in. She doesn't get as many real words out as Theo, but she is constantly chattering away to herself. Sometimes I'll say something to her and she'll give me a completely serious look, and with an air of finality announce, "Habada. Dibba dibba." and then walk away. The princess as spoken, and the conversation is now over. She knows all her classmates, and if you ask her "Where's Theo/Amelia/Fitz?" she'll point to the correct friend. She can usually point to Chad and Daddy too, but Mommy is hit or miss. (Usually miss.) She knows how much Theo loves his wolf, and if she sees he has left it someplace she'll pick it up and bring it to him! She was still using a pacifier at nights, but we cut ties with that in the last month. She is also a drama queen, and if she is unhappy with something she will throw her whole body face down onto the floor and cry. As long as this only happens at home, it's amusing enough.
It is trouble if they both go for the stairs at the same time and there's only one parent around to corral them. You probably think I'm exaggerating, but come on over and we'll let you try guarding two toddlers by stairs at the same time. One will go up, and as soon as you grab that one, the other starts to climb. We're back to living in a gated community because of this. I really hope our gate is rated for twins, because they've been trying to combine forces and shake it together to bring it down.
