Discovering the Dinosaurs

An exhibit called "Discover the Dinosaurs" came to Greensboro this weekend, and seemed a like good way to go spend a deary Sunday.  Chad had never seen anything like it!  The entrance was dark and had flashing lights and smoke and dino noises, and he gave us very confused expressions.  I was worried that the dinos would scare him, but once we got inside he was fine.

The exhibit had about 60 dinosaur models.  About a quarter of them moved and made noise.  Chad started off just staring but then he started having fun.  The bigger moving ones were roped off, but there were plenty of touchable models too.  (Well, I assumed they were touchable.  The signs next to them said, "No climbing or riding."  We decided that meant they could be gently pet.)

At every display, the same conversation took place:
Dinosaur: RAWWRRR!
Chad: Ohhhhhhhh....

I helped Chad see the short dinosaurs, but Andy had to lift him to give the taller ones pets.

After the main exhibit, there were some more hands-on attractions, but Chad was too young for most of them.  But he was the perfect size for a romp through the Dino Den, which had padded floors and walls to bounce off of and some little dinos to ride.

This was one of the biggest carnivores, and he lived mostly in the lakes and swamps in Africa.  His fin probably regulated his body temperature.

 I think this was a velociraptor.  They were as tall as 6 feet, but only weighed 15-30 pounds.

Because of it's small brain size, the Stegosaurus was considered to be one of the least intelligent dinos.  He's still my favorite though!
