Eight Months Old!

Chad is eight months old!

He was really more interested in eating the sign than posing with it.

Chad is weighing in at exactly 19 pounds and is somewhere between 27 and 28 inches.  It's hard to measure a squirmer.  Still no teeth, but he's learned a few new tricks.  He can clap and give high fives!  He is a sitting champ, and is the second oldest baby in the Infant A room at daycare, so that pretty much makes him the King of the Turtle Pit these days.  I don't think he's close to crawling, but he can definitely drag himself along the floor with his elbows pretty quickly.  The other day he managed to sneak up on an unsuspecting cat and pull its whiskers.
On Saturday Chad went to a 4th of July party with us and met a baby who's just two weeks younger than him.  Chad was wearing his new Red Sox cap, and this baby was also sporting Red Sox garb, so they bonded pretty quickly.  Even though they're pretty much the same age, Chad looked so much longer than Alex.  (Alex had him beat in terms of cheeks though.)  We know Chad doesn't get his length from me, but Alex's mom said that he has my eyes.  Now we just need to figure out where this blonde-ish hair is coming from.
Chad has been continuing his herbivore lifestyle, and this month we went through some fruits.
Avocado
Peaches (to match our pretty new kitchen!)
Mango
Applesauce
Pears (The only jarred baby food we've given him.  When did fresh pears get to be so expensive?  Jarred pears were on sale so we went the Gerber route.)
Cantaloupe
Watermelon.  This was the first food to get mixed reviews.  At first he was laughing in between spoonfuls, but then he started picking pieces out of his mouth and dropping them into his lap.

And here are some other cute pictures.  I hung one of these by my desk at work, and the cuteness keeps distracting me.

(He was showing off his pretty eyelashes here.)

This weekend Andy is on full-time Chad duty because I'm going to NY.  I hear they're planning to grill steaks and drink beers together.
