I will be the first to admit that Chad didn't have the funnest New Year's Eve, and it is entirely our fault.
Although he got his first taste of scrambled eggs for breakfast that day, and loved them!
We started off the day at the Nissan dealership, where Chad happily played in the mulch while his Daddy did some test driving. Then we moved onto the Subaru dealership, where Chad rode around in his stroller while more test driving was done. Fortunately it was about 70 degrees here, which is perfect car shopping weather. We came home for a quick nap/lunch break, and then it was back to Subaru, where poor Chad had to sit around for negotiations, (let's hope he inherited his haggling skills from his Daddy, because I am a counterproductive haggler) and then wait for paperwork to be filled out. Subaru has a really good selection of toys in their waiting room, so Chad kept busy. And the car salesmen all thought he was cute, especially when they saw him taking a few tentative little steps, then falling down. By about 5:00, just as we were signing the papers, Chad decided he had had absolutely enough of this car shopping nonsense and turned on the water works. We played a speed-version game of "Pass the baby!" while we took turns signing papers and tried to get out of there!
Then he said good-bye to his first chariot :(
Chad was the fourth generation of our family to ride in this car!!
But now he has new wheels to enjoy! With working airbags! Huzzah!
In 15 years, I can pass this car onto Chad. Of course, by then cars will have wings and drive themselves and he will be humiliated to ride in something so old-fashioned.
We got him home and he slept like a baby that night. Even the midnight fireworks didn't wake him.
New Year's Day was more fun for him. He went for a run with us and visited the playground afterwards. Chad is lucky to have such a fun daddy. While he was getting pushed on the swing and laughing at his daddy's funny faces, the little girl on the swing next to him was whining because her dad was too busy playing with his phone to remember to push her.
And then for dinner he had his first taste of sushi, courtesy of the Sushezi his Uncle Mike gave us!
We offered him some plain rice first, and he wanted nothing to do with that. But if he wrapped the rice in seaweed along with some crab and veggies, we had ourselves a happy Chad.
I strongly recommend the Sushezi
The next day, he gobbled down more sushi. I am so happy with Chad's palate! He turns his nose up at mashed potatoes, but will eat quinoa, sushi and shiitake mushrooms. He tried some Greek pizza a few weeks ago (it had olives, spinach and feta on it) and scarfed that down too. Next we need to get him to try some tofu!
Chad had a busy year in 2011, and we're excited to see what he surprises us with in 2012!
